MIDLAND/ODESSA - Today is the day the water rate hike officially goes into effect for both Midland and Odessa.
In Midland, the increase is based on how much water you use.
For the average family, you're looking at paying around seven percent more.
This is the second water rate hike in a year.
The City of Odessa increased their rates by 40 percent.
Both cities say they lost revenue because of a drop in water sales and they need money to help pay for bringing in water into town.
Everyone will see the new rates reflected on their November bill.
