MIDLAND - All the rain the Permian Basin has seen is a welcome sight.
But as we all know, it's creates a breeding ground for mosquitos.
Now in addition of worries about West Nile, a new mosquito borne disease has now made its way to Midland.
It's called the California Sero-Group Disease.
Specialists are now testing several mosquitos in the area
It's not as severe as West Nile but it can lead to encephalitis, which is the swelling of the brain, along with headaches and seizures.
The disease was recently found in a Midlander.
California Sero-Group is found mostly in the east.
There have only been five cases of the disease since the 1960's.
So far, there have been 32 cases of the West Nile Virus reported across West Texas in nine different counties.
