MIDLAND COUNTY - The Midland County Sheriff's Office worked overtime to protect our community and now they're being rewarded for all their hard work.

County Commissioners voted on Monday to give the Sheriff's Office more than $300,000 to help with overtime pay.

Sheriff Gary Painter says they were stretched thin last year because so many jailers went to the oilfield.

Painter also says they are very fortunate to be fully staffed right now.

Three of their jailers have become patrolmen and the open jailer spots have been filled.
