MIDLAND COUNTY - Midland County inmates will now have the opportunity to further their education behind bars.
Commissioners approved a jail industries program on Monday morning.
It will teach inmates job and life skills to use once they're released.
Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter hopes it will keep inmates from becoming repeat offender.
The program will specifically focus on skills in the food and service industry and it could expand from there.
Also, the program won't cost taxpayers anything.
