MIDLAND - A Midland man who was illegally driving an oil field truck and pretended to be a Texas Ranger pled guilty to impersonation of a federal officer.

65-year-old Donald McBroom pled guilty Wednesday morning.

McBroom was pulled over back in August in Winkler County.

He flashed a fake Texas Rangers badge and told the Trooper he was with the Permian Basin Oilfield Theft Task Force.

McBroom didn't have a commercial license and faked being an officer to avoid a ticket for hauling pipe.

He faces up to three years in prison.
