BIG SPRING - While local school districts are seeing a boom in their enrollment numbers, Howard College saw a slight drop.
Enrollment went down by nearly 300 students.
The College blames low employment rates, the economy and a new law for the requirements of the meningitis vaccine.
The new law requires any incoming student, not just freshman, get the shot and it has to be done 10 days before classes start or the student is dropped from classes.
Despite the downturn this semester, the school anticipates to see higher enrollment in the Spring.
