Officials Investigating Fatal Train Accident in Midland

MIDLAND - Officials are investigating after a fatal train accident in Midland.

The accident happened at Carver and Front Street around 2:45 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Ryan Stout, with the City of Midland, tells NewsWest 9 that one person has been killed in the accident.

NewsWest 9 has confirmed that a black male was hit but authorities have not yet been able to identify him. Witnesses on the scene told NewsWest 9 that the man threw himself in front of the train.

North Carver Street was closed for several hours while police investigated, however the road has since reopened.
