MIDLAND - Tempers flared inside the Midland City Council meeting on Tuesday when the topic of water rates came up.
The city passed a first reading of the proposed rate hike on Tuesday afternoon.
A final vote will take place September 25.
If it passes, then it will go into effect.
The reason for the hike is the city needs to pay for projects to bring water into town like the pipeline from the T-Bar Ranch.
The price tag for that alone is around $200 million.
