MIDLAND - The City of Midland is looking at tacking on an extra dollar to your trash bill.

Right now, there is an optional litter abatement fee.

That money is used to clean up litter across town.

But the city is considering making it mandatory and they want to raise it from 50 cents to a dollar.

Midlanders pay $16 for trash pickup which includes a mandatory recycling fee.

Under the new proposal, you would pay $17 a month.

The City Council will take their first vote on it on September 11.

If it passes, the new rate goes into effect October first.
