HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs inmate escaped from jail but he ended up crawling back into his jail cell.

The reason why is pretty weird.

We're told 31-year-old Carlos Garcia busted the window of his cell using popsicle sticks and a razor blade.

Once he was outside, he told jailers he thought he was hallucinating so he went back to his cell and told a guard what he did.

Garcia is a convicted murderer.

After his short stint of freedom, Garcia was taken to a maximum security prison in Santa Fe.
