MIDLAND - With oil, gas, and wind production surging in West Texas, it's bringing in millions of dollars to our economy.
But the roads are feeling the burden of all that success.
A task force made up of state agencies and local government leaders came together on Tuesday to look at the impact on torn up roads.
The group brainstormed ways to create a new transportation system along with ways to make our roads safer.
"This task force and the Texas Department of Transportation staff are looking at how we can make it so that they're safe and be a little more proactive and going out there and building these roads up and strengthening them so as truck traffic conditions continue into the future, those roads don't deteriorate," John Barton with TXDOT, said.
The group also plans on implementing a public awareness campaign, sometime in the near future.
