A Midland man accused of murdering an Odessa couple will not face the death penalty during his trial next week.

Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland tells NewsWest 9 that was at the request of Dick and Peggy Glover's family.

Burwell is charged with capital murder.

He's accused of killing the couple at their home in May of last year.

Burwell was found in Lubbock with the victims' Lincoln Navigator.

Police were able to track him by using the GPS that was installed in the SUV.

If Burwell is found guilty, he will automatically be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
