MIDLAND - A group of West Texas firefighters went to Midland on Sunday to remember one of their fallen brothers.

Odessa firefighter Christopher Clay was killed in a car accident early Saturday morning near Penwell.

DPS officials tell NewsWest 9, Clay was driving on Interstate 20 when for some reason he left the road, overcorrected and then rolled his truck several times.

The 32-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt.

On Sunday, firefighters from the Northeast Midland County, Greenwood and Lamesa collected money at the north side Wal-Mart for Clay's family.

The volunteers braved the heat and raised over $6,000.

They tell NewsWest 9, it's the least they can do to pay their respects.

There's no word yet if any funeral arrangements have been scheduled.
