Man Who Escaped From Patrol Vehicle is Back in Custody

A man who escaped from an officers vehicle in Ector County is back in custody. According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Christopher Ortega was apprehended in West Odessa on Friday. The Sheriff's Office says they received a tip and they surrounded a trailer in the 6400 block of Knox and took Ortega into custody.

ECTOR COUNTY - A man who escaped from an officers vehicle in Ector County is back in custody.

According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Christopher Ortega was apprehended in West Odessa on Friday.

The Sheriff's Office says they received a tip and they surrounded a trailer in the 6400 block of Knox and took Ortega into custody.

This all started when Ortega was in the back of a patrol unit in the 7600 block of Skyline on Thursday when he kicked out the rear passenger window, climbed out of the vehicle and ran. Officials also say Ortega was cuffed while in the back of the unit.

Ortega was originally arrested on warrants for going off bond and failure to appear, both of which are Class "A" misdemeanors.
