The man accused of killing and shooting a Reagan County Deputy died on Tuesday.
42-year-old Marcus Wade Madison died at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo around 4:30 p.m.
His body has now been sent to Lubbock for an autopsy.
Last Wednesday, Madison shot and killed Deputy Josh Mitchell.
An almost 17 hour standoff ensued between Madison, SWAT and other law enforcement in Big Lake.
It came to an end when officers made their way in and found him hiding in a closet.
He was then taken to the hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
