ODESSA - The City of Odessa is looking at possibly following in Midland's path and increasing water rates.
Odessa Mayor Larry Melton tells NewsWest 9, the city is tossing around numbers while they figure out next year's budget.
A hike in rates as much as 20 to 40 percent is projected but nothing is final at this point.
We're told residents have done a good job of conserving H2O but that's made their water sales drop.
With the rising cost of pumping water to the basin, Melton says officials are trying to figure out ways to keep it flowing.
The possible rate will not affect the charges for sewer water.
There's no word when further discussion or a decision on this issue will be made.
