Hobbs Man Charged With Kidnapping, Robbery

HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs man is being charged with kidnapping and robbery.

A man told police that Daniel Cantu had impounded his SUV.

He says when he showed up to get the vehicle, Cantu refused to give it back it to him.

When he tried to leave in his other car, he says Cantu and another man, held him at gunpoint and forced him into a bathroom then took his car keys, cash and even the vehicle's title.

It wasn't until the next morning that the man was able to escape.

Police caught up to Cantu and another man and found evidence of the stolen vehicle.

Daniel was sent to the Lea County Detention Center but has since been moved to Hobbs.
