MIDLAND COUNTY - New cases of whooping cough are popping up in Midland County.
Health officials are investigating and working to contain the spread.
Whooping cough is a bacterial disease that is highly contagious.
Anyone with an unexplained cough should contact their doctor.
Back in June, there was one case of whooping cough found in Odessa and another case was reported in Kermit back in May.
The Centers for Disease Control says the United States is on track to have the greatest number of whooping cough cases in half a century.
