HOWARD COUNTY - Howard County is back under a burn ban after commissioners heard from Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan on Monday.
He says even though there's been more rain, a big grass fire about a week ago was a reminder it's still dry out there.
Sullivan told Commissioners a burn ban will help eliminate some of the human factor for starting grass fires.
Sullivan did have some good news though.
There have only been about 160 calls compared to more than 600 fire calls at this time last year.
He says this is the slowest year for his department in the last five years.
