MIDLAND - One person is dead after a fiery accident in Midland.
The accident happened on Tom Craddick Highway and Holiday Hill Road in Midland just before 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
DPS Troopers say an 18-wheeler, driven by 44-year-old Angela Horak of Odessa, was heading eastbound on Tom Craddick Highway slammed into a Tahoe that ran a stop sign going northbound on Holiday Hill Road.
That caused the big rig to roll over and both vehicles burst into flames.
Thick black smoke could be seen for miles and the blaze sparked a small grassfire.
We're told officials weren't aware another vehicle was involved in the crash until the flames were out.
The driver of the Tahoe, 54-year-old Laura Lee of Midland, was killed and the driver of the truck made it out ok.
A witness who helped the truck driver says she was badly burned but she was talking when the ambulance arrived.
She was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
A HAZMAT team also responded to the scene because the big rig was leaking diesel fuel.
