PRESIDIO - City officials in Presidio say there are more people living in their town than what the Census Bureau said.

In fact, they say there is at least 500 more citizens and that undercount could mean big losses for them in state and federal funding.

Texas demographers calculated the population by counting the number of water connections and multiplying that by three.

That number gave them a figure of 4,426 people.

When the population was re-figured, it came out to 5,306.
