MIDLAND - A local hospital teamed up with an Austin based foundation to provide free heart screenings for teens.
The folks at Midland Memorial Hospital offered the tests for 14 thru 18 year olds on Saturday morning in the lobby of the main campus.
The tests help detect conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is also known as an enlarged heart.
Screeners tell NewsWest 9, it's especially important for teen athletes to get checked.
Students had to have a wavier and permission from parent or guardian to be screened.
