ALPINE - Residents in Alpine may not have to hear the loud horns from trains much longer.
The city has been working with Union Pacific to set up a quiet zone that would restrict extra noise from trains such as hard breaking and horns.
Union Pacific has asked that the city not allow parking near the east end of the depot area.
They also want a six foot fence to be put up around the parking lot on the south end.
The city has requested that they cut that down to four foot.
If the fence is approved, the city will move forward with setting up a quiet zone.
