HOWARD COUNTY - A jury has returned their verdict for a Howard County man after a drunk driving accident that left his passenger with brain damage.
44-year-old Wesley Shoup was sentenced to four years behind bars.
Shoup was found guilty of intoxication assault with a vehicle on Tuesday.
According to the Big Spring Herald, Shoup was trying to chase down a massive wildfire last year and was behind the wheel drunk.
Shoup ran a stop sign and hit a tractor trailer causing his truck to roll.
His passenger, Matthew Fowler, suffered permanent brain damage and nearly lost his arm in the accident.
The district attorney says Shoup had been drinking since that afternoon.
