Grassfire Sparks Up in Greenwood

GREENWOOD - A grassfire sparked up on Saturday afternoon in Greenwood.

The fire started at South County Road 1068 and East County Road 120 just after 1 p.m.

The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department tells NewsWest 9, several 25-30 foot trees were destroyed.

One acre of grass burned as well.

Crews were able to save one out building and two structures from burning.

Officials say the fire was started by burning trash that caught some nearby trees on fire.
