Midland Diver Found at Lake O.H. Ivie Died from Asphyxiation

LAKE O.H. IVIE - New information has been released about how a Midland diver died back in April.

According to Judge Scott Spoonts, 77-year-old Richard Stovall drowned due to asphyxiation.

The details on how he stopped breathing has not yet been released.

OSHA and the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation.

Back in April, Stovall dove into Lake O.H. Ivie to take soil samples but never resurfaced.

His body was found two days later in a chamber at the end of a 350-foot pipe.

An official said he didn't appear to be trapped.
