A 23-year-old Odessa man remains behind bars following a Tuesday night shooting.

Odessa Police tells NewsWest 9, two shots were fired around 6 p.m. in the 8100 block of San Antonio in Odessa.

Police say the victim, 58-year-old Steven Little, was visiting family members at the home when the suspect knocked on the door of the home and shot through the door.

Little was shot once in the neck and was grazed by another bullet on his head. Little was transported to Medical Center Hospital and is currently listed in good condition.

Police detained the suspect, 23-year-old James Creech, who apparently lives next door to the victim's family.

While authorities were working to detain Creech assaulted a detective, bit him on the arm and drew blood. The detective was transported to the hospital.

Creech has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
