Recent Wildfires Damage Tourism Industry in New Mexico

NEW MEXICO - One of the worst wildfires in New Mexico's history is also damaging something else, tourism.

The wildfires are causing village officials to launch a new campaign to bring to bring tourists back.

More than 200 homes and businesses were burned in the blaze that was sparked by lightning earlier this month.

Fire crews took advantage of a rain storm Friday afternoon to keep the 69-square-mile fire in check and increase containment lines.

It has since been 90 percent contained

The village's tourism office has uploaded images of blue skies from the city to put on digital billboards in Albuquerque and El Paso.
