ODESSA - If you drive by the YMCA in Odessa, you might have noticed something new.
Odessa Parks and Recreation workers were on hand on Monday to install a new statue that honors family members who are left at home during war deployments.
NewsWest 9 caught up with Odessa Parks and Recreation Director Steve Patton who says the project didn't take long but it's something that's very special for Odessa.
"I think it's something that is going to be a very, very special meaning to all veterans, not only of past wars, but those that are serving in the current wars, as well as those that are left behind here in the states or at home," Patton said.
Patton said there will be an official unveiling coming up on July 4 at 4 p.m.
