BIG SPRING - It was an extremely low voter turnout Saturday for the special runoff election in the Big Spring School District.

The seat for Trustee position for District 2 was up for grabs but just a handful of votes is all it took to unseat the incumbent trustee in District 2, Maria Padilla.

Her challenger, Pat Deanda, won with just 13 votes to Padilla's 10 votes.

There are more than 1,200 eligible voters in Big Spring ISD District 2 but only 23 cast ballots.

That's less than a two percent turnout, according to Howard County Elections Administrator Saundra Bloom.
