ODESSA - The City of Odessa will be hauling in a new source of water to make sure we don't run dry.
On Tuesday night, the Odessa City Council agreed to buy brackish groundwater from the Colorado Municipal Water District.
It would then be treated at a brand new desalination plant.
Plans are in the works to build one outside of Monahans in Ward County.
Brackish water is mainly salt and minerals and not suitable for drinking.
The city also agreed to look outside for other water sources.
If the desalination plant is built, it would bring in millions of gallons of water a day after it's treated.
