ODESSA - Buying salt water for drinking water. That's what the Odessa City Council will be deciding on at their next meeting.
Members talked about buying brackish water from the Colorado River Municipal Water District.
Brackish water is made up of mainly salt and minerals and it's not suitable for drinking.
It would be treated with a new desalination plant.
The water district and the city were working on a contract but they held off on approving it for now.
If the contract is approved, a multi-million dollar plant would be built outside of Monahans, bringing in millions of gallons of water a day.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday.
