MIDLAND - There's a scam floating around Midland and it's targeting your phone.

A text message has been popping up on phones.

In fact, it was sent to our NewsWest 9 cell phone on Monday morning.

It usually says you have won a prize and you need to go to a website and type in a winning code.

But don't buy into it.

It's a phishing attempt to get your information.

It will direct you to a website that can pull your personal and financial information and in some cases it will charge several texting fees.

The scammers are known to use Best Buy and Wal-Mart as a front.

If you get a text that looks suspicious, delete it immediately.
