Man Arrested on Arson Charges After House Fire in Midland County

MIDLAND COUNTY - A house fire that began as a domestic dispute on Saturday in Midland County has ended with one man behind bars.

The fire happened at a home 5200 block of FM 715.

Ernest Walton Tate, III, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with arson.

Sheriff's deputies tell NewsWest 9, they were at the house on Saturday evening responding to a domestic dispute and they separated the couple.

Witnesses on the scene told NewsWest 9 that the woman went next door with her two daughters while the Tate stayed in the home.

Soon after, they saw flames coming from the house.

A neighbor had to rush in to get Tate out, dragging him by his legs.

The fire was put out quickly by firefighters but officials said the fire did cause extensive damage to the inside of the home.

The Red Cross has stepped in to assist the woman and her two daughters.
