Two West Texas Students Participate in 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee

Two West Texas students made it to the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

12-year-old Ethan Wall is a sixth grader at Sudderth Elementary School in Monahans.

He made it to the third round before he was eliminated.

14-year-old Thomas Rubio also made it to the spelling bee stage.

He's an eighth grader at Alamo Junior High in Midland.

He made it to the fourth round before he was eliminated.

Spelling must run in the family because his sister, Danielle, also participated in 2006.

The spelling Bee finals will air on Thursday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
