MIDLAND - Well it's out with the old and in with the new as new technology rolls into Midland libraries.

Visitors of both the downtown Midland library and the new Centennial public library will soon be able to check out their own books.

Tech Logic will install a radio frequency id system which will allow library staff to electronically inventory books and special collections.

Library visitors will also use self-checkout modules so there is no longer a reason to wait in line.

The system will better help staff members keep track where books are checked out and returned

Library officials are hoping for the new system to be up and running at the downtown location by late summer.
