Two People Killed in Head-on Collision in Terrell County

TERRELL COUNTY - Two people are dead after a head-on collision about 40 miles away from Sanderson on Friday afternoon.

We're told the driver who caused the accident was running from law enforcement.

Pecos DPS officials tell NewsWest 9, 34-year-old Georgina Ghidotti and 58-year-old Judith Escamilla, both of Glendale, Arizona, were killed after their vehicle was hit head on during a high speed chase.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 90 about six miles west of the Valverde County line.

We're told the victims and a passenger were eastbound on Highway 90 when a vehicle driven by 38-year-old David Robert Steiner was evading police and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The women were pronounced dead at the scene. Their passenger, 44-year-old Michael Ghidotti, was taken in stable condition to the hospital

Steiner, who is from Vinegar Bend, Alabama, was also transported to the hospital in stable condition.
No word on what charges he might be facing.
