MIDLAND - Midland students and neighbors were left sweltering in the heat after their power was knocked out on Friday.

The electricity was knocked out after a city recycle truck ran into some low hanging power lines off of Cuthbert Street around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The accident took down four power lines and several utility poles.

Up to 500 customers lost electricity, along with a daycare center and Alamo Junior High.

We're told the power is back up and running except for at the school.
