Odessa Officer Won’t Be Charged After Shooting Suspect Who Tried to Run Him Down

ODESSA - An Odessa officer who shot a man hat tried to run him down won't be charged.

A grand jury found that he didn't do anything wrong.

However, the man that he shot is in big trouble.

Randy Goltl is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Back on April 20, officers were called out to a domestic disturbance at a mobile home on Paradise in Odessa.

When they arrived, they saw a man being hit by a car.

Turns out he was trying to help a woman who had been attacked.

When the officer approached the driver, we're told Goltl hit the gas and tried to run down the officer.

The officer fired at the car and hit him.

Goltl took off but was later found when he called for help because of his gunshot wound.

He was treated at the hospital then jailed.

Goltl is behind bars on a $400,000 bond.
