Big news for West Texas Catholics, Bishop Michael Pfeifer has put in his resignation.
The Bishop wrote an official letter on the Diocese of San Angelo website.
He's turning 75-years-old and says it is his time to retire.
He says a new Bishop will be named for the Diocese of San Angelo soon but there's no time line on that.
Pfeifer sent his resignation the pope and says his future plans are not set in stone right now.
Pfeifer has served in the Church for over 27 years.
