Authorities Investigating Double Homicide in Gaines County

GAINES COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE:

On May 10, 2012 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Gaines County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call in western Gaines County about ¼ mile east of the New Mexico state line, on an unrelated call.

At approximately 3:57 p.m. the deputies were approached by an individual from Hobbs, NM who informed the deputies that she had gone to a friend's residence and found the door of the residence open and a male subject lying inside, who appeared to be deceased.

Gaines County Deputies immediately responded to the residence.

Deputies cleared the residence and discovered a second individual deceased. Gaines County Sheriff's Officers, Texas Rangers, Lea County New Mexico Sheriff's Officers and Hobbs Police Department Detectives are currently investigating the incident.

Sheriff Key advised that it appears to be a double homicide.

The DPS crime lab from Lubbock was called to the scene. Gaines County Justice of the Peace, Tammy Clark pronounced the two individuals deceased at 9:25 a.m. on May 11th.

An autopsy has been ordered.

The two victims have been identified as Jay Bradley Doyal 29 years of age and John Allen 30 years of age. Both individuals showed addresses in Gaines County.
