ODESSA - A standoff that began on Tuesday evening has ended peacefully.

Around 6:30 p.m., Odessa fire crews responded to a home in the 2000 block of Orlando for a subject who had possibly overdosed. When the fire department came up to the house, the subject had a gas canister in his hand and he was breaking windows in his house.

Authorities set up a perimeter and the SWAT Team as well as the Texas Rangers, Crisis Intervention Unit and DPS Troopers were called in and residents in the area were evacuated.

A family member was in the house when 28-year-old Leo Cooper tried to overdose. That person made the call to authorities. When police arrived, the family member had left.

Two teams of negotiators were called in to talk to the man.

At around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, SWAT Officers made entry into the home to get the man out of the house. No weapons were found inside the home. The man has been transported to Medical Center Hospital where he will undergo a mental health evaluation. His condition is not known at this time.
