HOBBS, N.M. - A Texas man is being accused of causing over $40,000 worth of damage to a Hobbs racing track. That's after he was caught doing laps on the track.

Police say 28-year-old Martin McDonald broke through a gate at the Zia Park Casino and drove his pickup onto the horse race track.

Apparently he told officers he thought it would be fun to drive on the track like he was in Nascar.

Officers tried to pull him over but he ignored them.

McDonald finally came to a stop once a barricade was set up.

McDonald is facing several charges including DWI and resisting an officer.
