JEFF DAVIS COUNTY - The wildfires continue to burn in Jeff Davis County but residents' homes are no longer threatened.

Patrick Allen with the Texas Forest Service says containment lines are holding and crews are continuing to mop up.

The Livermore Ranch Fire is now 50 percent contained and the Spring Mountain Fire is 60 percent contained.

Both wildfires have been burning for almost two weeks and have consumed about 24,000 acres.

Last week, residents were forced from their homes in the Davis Mountain Resort when the fire danger got to close.

They were let back into their homes on Thursday.

Were told lightning ignited the fires.
