Castaneda Found Guilty of Murder, Sentenced to 80 Years Behind Bars

FORT STOCKTON - A man has learned his fate after being found guilty of murder on Thursday night.

30-year-old Fabian Castaneda was sentenced to 80 years behind bars.

Castaneda was convicted in the shooting death of Javier Tellez, Junior, back in March of 1999. He shot Tellez several times in a barn east of Fort Stockton.

Then he dumped his body along the road several miles away. Castaneda was arrested at the time, but disappeared after posting bond.

He was on the run for 10 years until a tip from the FBI landed him behind bars.
