ODESSA - It's a danger hidden right inside your home and you might not even know about it.

Old, unused and expired medicine can pose a real risk to kids, teens and even adults but on Saturday morning folks came together to prevent that from happening.

The Drug Enforcement Agency asked residents to bring in their old pills and medicine bottles to Lowe's in Odessa.

The drug take back program was just one of several ongoing medication clean outs throughout the year.

The whole purpose of this program is to keep your old medicine from getting in the wrong hands and being misused or abused.

Last April, more than 188 tons of prescription drugs were collected in take back programs across the nation.
