A fight is brewing over a new water pipeline in the Basin.
The Colorado River Municipal Water District has filed an eminent domain lawsuit against a family in West Odessa so they can gain access to their land.
NewsWest 9 has obtained a copy of that lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, part of the pipeline will run under Jovita Grajeda's property on west 26th Street.
The family refused a monetary offer from CRMWD for the 70 foot pipeline easement.
The new pipeline will take water from Ward County into Ector County.
It will provide an emergency source of water for Odessa, Midland, Big Spring, Stanton and Snyder.
Once it's complete, it can pump 45 million gallons of water a day to those cities, if needed.
The lawsuit seeks a specially selected panel to determine a fair price the district will pay for the land.
The entire pipeline should be completed by the end of this year.
