Big Spring - A Big Spring man is behind bars for allegedly shooting another man during an argument over the weekend.

62-year-old Alberto Hernandez-Diaz remains in the detention center awaiting arraignment on aggravated assault charges.

Police say the victim, 51-year-old Genaro Castroena, was shot in the abdomen Saturday night. He was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.

It appears the shooting took place in front of the suspect's home on West 4th. Police say the two men got into an argument and that's when Hernandez-Diaz allegedly opened fire.

The reason for the argument is still unclear. Police arrested Hernandez-Diaz at the scene and a 22. caliber handgun was seized.
