BIG SPRING - Big Spring residents who go to the polls May 12 will have another item on their ballot besides local races.
Voters will decide if they want money from the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation to be used to fix up the city's water treatment facilities.
About 40 percent of the Economic Development Corporation's revenue would go towards the repairs.
If it's passed, the Economic Development Corporation will be paying the lion's share of the $13 million bill. That's the estimated price tag to bring Big Spring's water quality up to standard.
Another public hearing on the issue will be held at the next city council meeting.
This has been a topic of debate in Big Spring for a few months now.
Some say funding from the Economic Development Corporation is a good move while others feel it will put the city in a bind later.
That meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
