MIDLAND - One man was transported to the hospital after being thrown from his horse.

Officials tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the intersection of Todd Drive and Marie Drive after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found out that two people were horseback riding near the fence line of a five acre lot near Todd Drive.

The wind picked up and had blown a plastic bag in the air, which startled one of the horses.

Pedro Molina, who was riding the horse, lost control of his startled horse and fell off.

The horse then ran into the intersection of Todd Drive and Marie Drive and was hit by a white flatbed nursery pick-up truck that was heading southbound.

The horse was killed instantly on impact.
The driver of the truck, Cruz Castillo, was fine.
Pedro Molina was transported to the Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
